Joint Transnational Call 2022
Joint Transnational Call 2022, a funding opportunity for research projects on the development of new analytic tools and pathways to accelerate diagnosis and facilitate diagnostic monitoring of rare diseases.
The aim of the funding opportunity is to enable scientists in different countries to build an effective collaboration on a common interdisciplinary research project based on complementarities and sharing of expertise, with expected impact to use the results in the future for benefit of patients.
Development of new analytic tools and pathways to accelerate diagnosis and facilitate diagnostic monitoring of rare diseases
The call will open on December 14th.

SmartAgriHubs: New Open Call
SmartAgriHubs offers funding to digital innovation services providers. This includes the overall life-cycle for developing, setting-up, offering, providing, testing, validating, refining as well as enhancing services for Digital Transformation and Innovation. You can receive either 70 or 100% of funding to cover your eligible costs. This shall help you to:
• Become a regional partner for innovation in the agri-food domain,
• Support preparation & realisation of Innovation Activities for free, and
• Join a pan-European Innovation Network as a Node in your regionProposed work shall be coordinated by Digital Innovations Hubs (DIHs). As we consider a “Digital Innovation Hub” as a Role of an organisation than its only purpose, all kinds of organisations could apply that aim at the set-up and offering of DIH services. The fol-lowing figure presents typical examples for innovation services SAH considers very valuable to promote digital transformation in the European Agri-Food Sectors.

Due to a delay in the adoption of the EIC work programme 2022, there will be no EIC Accelerator cut-off date in January as originally foreseen. As soon as information on the next EIC Accelerator cut-off date is available, it will be published on the EIC website and shared through our social media channels.

MISE: Fondo impresa femminile
È stato pubblicato in Gazzetta ufficiale il decreto interministeriale del ministro Giancarlo Giorgetti che rende operativo il Fondo impresa femminile.
L’obiettivo della misura è quello di incentivare la partecipazione delle donne al mondo delle imprese, supportando le loro competenze e creatività per l’avvio di nuove attività imprenditoriali e la realizzazione di progetti innovativi, attraverso contributi a fondo perduto e finanziamenti agevolati.
Il Fondo Impresa femminile è istituito con un finanziamento iniziale di 40 milioni di euro.
Il progetto è inserito tra le linee di intervento del Ministero dello sviluppo economico nel Piano nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza, che prevede complessivamente 400 milioni a sostegno dell’imprenditoria femminile.
Con un successivo provvedimento ministeriale saranno indicati i termini di apertura per la presentazione delle domande attraverso cui richiedere le agevolazioni.

Europe's Beating Cancer Plan: Building an EU Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres
Today, the European Commission is officially launching the EU Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres, one of the Flagship actions of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan. As part of the EU Cancer Plan, this new EU Network will be put in place by 2025 and aim to ensure that 90% of eligible patients have access to such centres by 2030.

MISE: 45 milioni per blockchain e intelligenza artificiale
Il Ministro Giancarlo Giorgetti ha firmato il decreto attuativo del Fondo per lo sviluppo delle tecnologie e delle applicazioni di intelligenza artificiale, blockchain e internet of things, istituito presso il Mise con una dotazione iniziale di 45 milioni di euro, che ha l'obiettivo di promuovere la competitività e la produttività del sistema imprenditoriale del Paese attraverso progetti di ricerca e innovazione tecnologica legati al programma transizione 4.0.
I 45 milioni di euro del Fondo, messi a disposizione dal Mise per sostenere con finanziamenti agevolati la realizzazione dei progetti innovativi, potranno essere ulteriormente incrementati attraverso contributi volontari di enti, associazioni, imprese e singoli cittadini. Inoltre potranno essere combinati con fondi e risorse nazionali o comunitarie in modo da favorire l'integrazione con i finanziamenti di ricerca europei e nazionali.

HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education
Unlocking the potential of higher education institutions for innovation and entrepreneurship
HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education was launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and is led by EIT RawMaterials ‐ one of the EIT's Knowledge and Innovation Communities. It is part of the 2021–2027 EIT Strategy, and it aims to help higher education institutions to build the capacity to innovate and to teach innovation and entrepreneurship. More specifically, the initiative aims to encourage these institutions to look at their own practices and develop concrete actions to increase their impact on their ecosystems.
The call will fund 23 pilot projects to be implemented in 2021−2023. The total maximum budget per project is €1.2 million, broken down as follows: €400,000 for Phase 1 (July−December 2021) and €800,000 for Phase 2 (January 2022−July 2023).
The deadline to submit proposals is 25 May 2021.
Age limits are introduced in a bid to increase success rates, while new incentive to spend time in industry aims to develop more transferrable skills. €1.8B will be awarded in the next two years.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) is a key novelty of Horizon Europe and represents the most ambitious innovation initiative that Europe has taken, with a budget of €10 billion for the period 2021-2027. The EIC will support startups, SMEs and research teams developing high-risk, high-impact breakthrough innovation, with a particular focus on scaling up game-changing solutions that contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Recovery Plan for Europe.

Coronavirus: preparing Europe for the increased threat of variants
Today, the Commission is proposing immediate action to prepare Europe for the increased threat of coronavirus variants. The new European bio-defence preparedness plan against COVID-19 variants called “HERA Incubator” will work with researchers, biotech companies, manufacturers and public authorities in the EU and globally to detect new variants, provide incentives to develop new and adapted vaccines, speed up the approval process for these vaccines, and ensure scaling up of manufacturing capacities.

This call is targeted to the transfer or mainstreaming of shortlisted outputs of finalised Interreg MED projects.
The indicative financial allocation for this call is about 4,6M€ (ERDF + IPA + national co-financing). The final allocation is subject to further decisions of the Interreg MED Programme Steering Committee.

Third Call for Proposals for Transnational Access Projects at EASI-Genomics
EASI-Genomics is a European Genomics Infrastructure Horizon 2020 project. This novel infrastructure supports researchers in next-generation sequencing and other high-end genomics applications and genomic data analysis. The infrastructure is accessible worldwide to academic researchers, research groups and scientific institutions. Furthermore, projects from industry, including SMEs will be supported. Throughout four calls for access, EASI-Genomics will support more than 150 projects for a total budget of 6 million € until the end of 2022.

A wide range of brain disorders already manifests during development in early life. Such neurodevelopmental disorders severely curtail the quality of life of patients and their families often throughout their entire lifespan. Thus, neuroscientific research on neurodevelopmental disorders and its translation into diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes is a central pillar to promote healthy living in Europe and worldwide.
